Over the weekend I went for the first sitting on my new tattoo:

how long did that take...it looks very detailed...
it took just over an hour and a half to do that. filling it in will take double that (plus).
Nice body art, sweets. Although I don't sport any tatoos myself, I can appreciate a good looking tatoo :-)

All of my tattoos have meaning for me. :-) But this one specifically, it's a phoenix... mythological bird that when death approaches builds itself a nest of cinnamon and aromatic wood, and lets itself be consumed by the flames. Then, from the ashes, a new phoenix is born.
I like the sybolism behind the new bird rising from the ashes of the old life. I believe we all have parts of our life that feel like that.
There are Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Egyptian, and Native American counterparts of the Phoenix.
